First post. Need some help for today. I. Have an S8 Elite 2 that shows a mask leak and it's old. Mask is not leaking. Machine erasing data after several days and can't show compliance. I got a used machine that's way newer than mine but still used. I planned to use it for 30 compliance report. It is basically the same machine. Resmed s8 vpap s. It's set to cpap with all my same cpap settings. Low 9 high 11.6. Epr 2. Epr return low/ med.
After 2 days the machine show ai or ail at 2.5 I think. Both days woke up with ringing ears. Went away. I bumped the machine down .3 and today feel tired with 8 hrs sleep. 1st day was also a little tired also. What's going on. I need to adjust this thing better to last me for 30 day then I'll get a new machine. Thanks.

Need Help with Resmed H5i Humidifier

Hi Folks,

I accidentally damaged the hidden printed circuit board inside my Resmed S9 Humidifier's (H5i) Base,
and I'm hoping someone can help me out please.

I'm looking to either:

  1. Get someone to simply tell me what the part number is if it’s written on it.  OR
  2. Get a really close up Photo of the part of the PCB that I damaged (so I can see the part that I drilled off). OR
  3. Get a copy of the Schematic Diagram (circuit) of the H5i PCB, OR
  4. Buy a H5i PCB only, OR
  5. Buy a Second hand H5i (base part only with included PCB).
Any of the above help would be very much appreciated indeed!

Background: It's my own silly fault, I modified my unit so that it automatically refilled itself with water - that worked great - then I 'neatened' it up by hiding 2 water level sensor wires.
I drilled a couple of 1mm holes for them ….. straight through the PCB. Grin  Oh-jeez
Blast. I thought I would have been well clear.

However I am a pensioner with plenty of time & an ex repair tech, so given an idea of the missing component, I can fix it.

Here's a close up of the damage (the hole is only 1mm big)

New CPAP $2K lease?

Doc office gave a quote for a new cpap machine and was told it would be $2000 on a lease program.  Pay a total of 2000 (down+payments) and then after a year if you're using your equipment then the insurance company will pay off the rest and you stop making payments when you hit that 2000 mark.  Otherwise you need to return the equipment.  Online looks like you can get one like this (dreamstation, resmed autosense) for under $1k.  So that's a big margin for $2k from the doctor's office especially if there's a residual payment more than $2k?

I saw some other threads here about this in Canada.

Is this normal nowadays?  I don't recall paying that much for my first one.  Never heard of a lease program as I thought I just paid out right for mine before with the help of insurance in the beginning, but nothing to worry about a year later.

Just venting.

I am three nights into recovery from a major shoulder operation. Having the use of one arm only means my wife has to help me into CPAP mode at bed time. My  nightly ritual is now a nightmare Dielaughing  Getting my chinstrap and mask on is a battle of wills,  and as I wake earlier than my wife I have to wake her up to help me take it all back off. Oh well, only six more weeks to go. Too-funny

Brevida mask with Resmed A10

Hi all,
last night I used a F&P Brevida mask with my rental Resmed Airsense A10, previously I was trialling a Dreamwear mask.
My stats came up great: AHI 0.89 but quite a few times throughout the night I was woken by air being forced out my (closed)  mouth.

Looking at the 'Time at Pressure' graph in Sleepyhead, I can see the upper limits of the pressure were at around 13 whereas I have never seen
it much above 12 before. I really liked the fit and comfort of the Brevida but why is it making the mask pressure higher and forcibly expelling air through my lips?

Resmed has mask type still set to 'pillows'; nasal is another option that may be  worth tryinmg perhaps? Thoughts?

Also, it seemed worse when I slept on one side; I wonder if perhaps I was blocking the exhaust filter by inadvertantly having it facing the pillow as the hose swivels and ended up in a few different directions through the night...

90 day AHI data graph

Hi again all.

I had my sleep specialist appointment today. She said my data is coming up great. I asked her why it is that I still have daytime drowsiness quite badly some days and why my AHI readings vary from 1.9 to 11.2. She said that's quite normal and I should be feeling better rested by now.
She wants me to do  iron tests and vitamin d testing done. She has me set at 13 cm fixed.
She says happy to put me back in for another night to check that titration is right. But that won't happen for a few months yet. In the mean time I'm stuck on the 13 center fixed setting. She's pretty much determined not to put me on an auto range.

I've attached a screenshot of a dreammapper 90 day graph. You can't see the the actual single day readings but you can see the wave of the graph. Is this normal for a 90 day graph?

Here's a screenshot of last night. Thanks to a video on how to put my mask on right, I was surprised when Sunday night was probably the worst night I've had with the machine. Also, does the fact I have a mustache have any bearing on leaks?  I'm having too many leak problems. My therapist is sending me a chin strap. Thanks

SH won't import yesterday's SpO2 data file

Had to resort to importing from the CMS50F because SH wouldn't import the data from the file. The first of the screenshots (Sync to CPAP) shows SH's thoughts when trying to sync the oximeter file to the CPAP session; the second (Use oximeter clock) shows it's (her?) thoughts when trying to adjust the oximeter's start time.

Note: The file does have data. The only other significant thing I know is that I changed the file names before trying to upload. I haven't had this exact problem in the past and it mystifies me that I have to import from the CMS50 to get oximetry into the session.

Any suggestions or thoughts will be appreciated.

Ramp time

The information I've been given about setting ramp time is if I set it to auto, it doesn't go to full pressure until I fall asleep. If I set it at 5 minutes it will ramp up to full pressure even if I'm not asleep. If I set it to off it should ramp up right away. Do I have this right?  My problem is when I set it to 5 minutes or off nothing happens. Is there some other setting involved?   Also, how can I see what the pressure is? Thanks

Machine Settings Display

Hi Folks.

Regarding Pressure Min:

  1. Under Machine Settings it is 7
  2. Under Statistics it is 4
  3. In the Machine itself it is 4
So what's wrong with Machine Settings?

Does SleepyHead work with Resmed respirators

$

Hi! I've been following this forum from time to time. Now I have a question, so I decided to join. I've been using a Resmed 10 Autoset with Sleepyhead for a couple years now. I also begun to use a Contec CMS 50 I, since I continue to have brain fog. My night SpO2 was found to be at lowest 86% even with at best 0,0 AHI results with my APAP treatment. I'm now waiting to see my asthma/lung specialist. I've seen my neurologist/sleep specialist. It appears I may have to start using extra oxygen at night. That seems to mean starting to use a Resmed with ventilator capability as the use of oxygen may cause central sleep apnea, which I don't normally have. I've seen form this forum, that SleepyHead works with ResMed bi-paps. My question is: Does Sleepyhead work with ResMed
respirators also? I found VPAP questions, but not about this. Thinking-about

Dreams of Race Cars

The other morning, I very slowly awoke from a dream of race cars driving by.  They were slow race cars.  I could hear their engines outside my window.  They changed gears as they were driving by my house.

When I finally woke up, it took me several more breaths to realize...

It was my (grumble grumble so dang noisy grumble grumble) Dreamstation.

Oh-jeez Laugh-a-lot Oh-jeez

The sound I very slowly woke up to was actually the motor of my Dreamstation: exhale, inhale, exhale, inhale.  Sounds like a car driving by, switching to the next gear, then switching back to the other gear.

Oy.

I didn't want to distract from the productive posts in the apnea forum.  So I thought I'd share here.

Would you describe your cpap buying/shopping experience a pleasant one? Could you describe how it went and what you would like to be changed, if possible?

Please don’t name company names. This post isn’t about finding the best or worst DMEs, but to try to understand the business and see what you should or shouldn’t expect from a DME.

Language Change

Hi,

I'm a U.S. expat now living in France and was recently prescribed and fitted with a ResMed AirSense 10.  After some adjustments I found the interface (literally!) that works best for me, thank goodness.

My question is about changing the language on the device itself.  Mine of course came in French, but as I have yet to master this fine language, I'd prefer English menu screens.  I did manage to navigate to the page where the language settings are, but only one checked radio button was available there, French (obviously).  THERE WAS NO OTHER OPTION!  I wonder if someone knows if there is a hidden menu or a way to unlock the other language via administrative options or something (I believe there are supposed to be at least two other choices, including English).

Thank you!!!

Leaks

Hello,  I am getting really frustrated with the usage report when I wake up in the morning. Up until 3 days ago I was wearing my pillow mask all wrong. I watched a Resmed video and I am wearing the mask correctly now. I used the machine for about 2 hours yesterday watching tv. Last night about midnight I put the mask on and it felt secure. When I woke up I was mystified as to why the usage rate was so low. I'm being sent a chin strap to help keep my mouth shut. I realize that it's still early in my finding the right equipment, but to wake up thinking I had a good night and I didn't. I had a 2 hours and 39 minutes usage rate.  The night before I had a 6:39 usage rate. I'm never giving up but making a little headway would help. Maybe I need a full mask. I'm including a screenshot of last night.  Thanks

More SvO2 A$$t/CMS50F 'issues' -- missing session

$

Last night's sleep was interrupted by my supposed caretaker, who informed me she had an urgent need to go potty. I turned off the AS10 AS and stopped the CMS50F recording, took her out, then turned both devices back on (recording in the oximeter) and tried to sink into restful sleep for the next 3+ hours. Loaded the AS10 data into SH, then extracted the (single! <gasp>) data file from the oximeter.

I've previously successfully recorded multiple sessions on the oximeter -- but never with a break of just over 6 minutes. Do we have any oximeter bit-brains who can tell me how the SpO2 A$$istant saves files, and what circumstances cause it to begin overwriting?

Is the first session still on the device, and if so how can I access it?

Thanks for any comments, even those I don't want to hear!
